Detroit-based hip-hop act Slum Village once counted the late, great producer J Dilla as a member. When Jay Dee left the group in 2002, he was replaced by Elzhi, who assumed beatmaking responsibilities with that year’s Trinity (Past, Present, And Future). Elzhi stuck with Slum Village after the departure of original MC Baatin two years later, but lately he’s been busy with his solo career, releasing The Preface in August.
