Yes yes y’all! This is DJ Madhatter checking back in with ya! I wanted to write a lil’ something about my experience at Summerfest this year. For any of y’all that didn’t know, we opened up for Lupe Fiasco on the Miller stage this past Sunday! It was insane! Without question the “biggest show” I have ever played. (With the exception of opening for Ludacris at the eagles ballroom, but that was only my 2nd show with the Rusty Ps ever. I guess I passed their test, those bastards! ) The night was hot and sticky, but the crowd was really feeling the music. To be honest with you, I don’t really remember the performance. It was like a black out for me. We got on stage, and then the next thing I know, the stage manager is standing behind the front speakers pointing at his watch and making a “slit-your-throat” gesture. I guess our time was up! Our best buddy Josh Adams over at Mindpool productions had like 6 cameras on us during the entire show! I wish I could’ve seen the show from the stands. When we got off stage, I felt hollow inside. I had put out the same amount of energy the average person uses in one week, in about 30 minutes. I almost passed out! I tried to put my decks back into thier cases, but my Sheri Bear suggested I just go backstage and soak up some AC and water. After getting my strength back, I remembered that Bobby Brewski (of 91.7 fm’s Late Night Hype Show) had run on stage during the song Brew City. I later found out he was arrested and removed from the grounds Way to go Rob! I guess he was just really feeling the show! I am really greatful for the opportunity we had to represent our city at the worlds largest music festival! I hope we can do that again next year!
